A tin shed in Delhi NCR can reach 60°C inside during summer without proper insulation. This guide shows you exactly how to reduce shed temperature by 10–15°C — using proven methods that work in our climate.
Ask anyone with a tin shed in Delhi, Noida, or Gurgaon — summer is brutal. Temperatures outside hit 45°C, but inside an uninsulated tin shed, it can feel like 55–60°C. Workers cannot function, goods get damaged, and machines overheat.
The good news: with the right insulation and ventilation design, you can reduce inside temperature by 10–15°C — making your shed comfortable and productive even in peak Delhi summer.
💡 Science behind it: GI metal sheets are excellent heat conductors — they absorb sunlight rapidly and radiate it inward. The solution is to either stop heat from entering (insulation) or remove hot air as it builds up (ventilation). Best results come from doing both.
Insulation sheets are placed below the GI roofing. They create a thermal barrier that blocks up to 60–70% of radiant heat. Types available in Delhi NCR:
Most affordable — ₹15–18/sq.ft add-on. Reduces roof temperature by 8–12°C. Best for budget-conscious projects like small factories, godowns, and workshops. Lifespan: 8–12 years.
Premium option — ₹280–380/sq.ft for complete roofing. Reduces inside temperature by 12–18°C. Used in cold storage, food processing, and high-value manufacturing. Also provides sound insulation. Lifespan: 20+ years.
Industrial grade — ₹22–30/sq.ft. Used in industrial sheds where fireproofing is also needed. Reduces temperature by 10–14°C. Best for large factories in Noida and Gurgaon industrial areas.
Turbo ventilators are wind-powered rotating exhaust units installed on the roof ridge. As wind turns the blades, they create low pressure inside and pull hot air out — continuously, without any electricity.
A continuous ridge vent (opening along the peak of the roof) allows hot air to escape naturally as it rises. This is a passive ventilation method that works well combined with low inlet ventilation (side windows or open sides).
For agricultural sheds and workshops, open side walls with GI wire mesh (rather than full GI sheet cladding) provide excellent cross-ventilation. This is the most effective method for poultry sheds — but not suitable for dust-sensitive manufacturing.
Before construction, the shed orientation significantly affects heat buildup:
For a 5,000 sq.ft industrial shed, this combination adds ₹1.15 lakh to your total cost — but saves thousands in worker productivity, goods protection, and AC costs every year.
Delhi NCR summers don't have to make your tin shed unbearable. With the right insulation + ventilation design, you can cut inside temperatures by 12–18°C and create a productive working environment even in peak May–June heat. The investment in insulation pays for itself within one summer season.
